Magazine Advert
After researching what would be a suitable magazine advert for our artist; once we took into account what is specific about indie magazine adverts. We found out that a heavy focus would be on the artist as he is an up-and-coming artist and therefore there needs to be more focus on him rather than his album. So by putting him within in the centre of the shot with his name in a large capitalised bold font it leaves no ambiguity to who the artist is. Furthermore, an associated theme we wanted the artist to be linked to is outdoors and nature therefore we took our photo shoot within a field surround by trees which can be clearly seen within the shot. Another aspect we wanted to include which ties in with indie conventions was the aspect of performance. As mentioned previously, our artist is up-and-coming therefore we need to highlight as much information as possible about him so by having him playing guitar we can show to the audience of the magazine advert a more detailed personal side to him. In the bottom left hand corner is the QR code which gives an option to a bonus track; another typical feature of indie magazine adverts as it gives the audience more of an incentive to look into the artist as they are offering there songs for free. The links to social networking sites at the bottom further aid his up-and-coming appeal and help boost appeal and popularity. Then lastly the inclusion of the star ratings is centred in the shot and above the artist as if the audience can see that the artist has been awarded and noted by well-known magazines then the audience is more likely to purchase his songs.
